What is Tramontina Cookware
The Tramontina brand started from a small family-owned company in Brazil in the small town of Carlos Barbosa. Valentin Tramontina together with his wife Elisa De Cecco built a small wooden house and an Iron mill in order to create a living. The couple was able to deliver products that are reliable to the community through their hard work, dedication, and focus. When Valentin passed away in 1939, Elisa took over, and with her strong leadership and spirit, she laid down the foundation of what Tramontina is today. 10 years later, Ivo and his colleague Ruy J. Scomazzon ushered Tramontina into modernization.
After 75 years Tramontina still continues to satisfy its customers’ needs by providing high quality, innovative, and standard kitchen products. Its success does not only come from its ability to deliver high-quality cookware, but also because this company has a group of hardworking people that strives to accomplish extraordinary things in order to give us the best, safest, and high-quality products possible.

Questions To Be Answered When Choosing Tramontina Cookware
After seeing different Tramontina Cookware Sets and knowing the different types of cookware they provide, we now have to tackle the frequently asked questions and their answers in order to know the best cookware for us.
What to consider when shopping for cookware?
Cookware can also be considered as an investment because we generally do not replace them regularly unless necessary. It is important to keep in mind the top 3 pointers that one should look into when shopping for cookware.
Durability: buying cookware that would last for a long time should be number one on your list. Consider extending your budget a little bit to invest in robust cookware that can provide long-lasting performance to avoid replacing your collection often.
Functionality: Another characteristic you should prioritize when filtering through pots and pans would be the functionality of the cookware. Don’t be fooled by the beautiful design and always aim for cookware that has great heat control and can offer an excellent even distribution.
Safety: Target non-toxic cookware that is safe from any harmful chemicals If you are planning to buy a nonstick collection.
What material should the cookware be made of? What kind of cooking do you usually do?
It is very important that we know the materials used in our cookware. Knowing the exact material will helps us determine the durability, quality, and overall performance. We must keep in mind that not all materials are excellent heat conductors and that some of them can react with certain types of food at certain temperatures, which may lead to some health risks.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is without a doubt one of the most known materials used in cookware nowadays that you can find in every kitchen. stainless steel alone is considered to be a poor heat conductor since it transfers heat unevenly. However, most stainless steel cookware are produced with multi-ply construction (this term signifies the number of metal layers added. For instance, Tri-ply means 3 layers of metals).
Stainless steel is often used with other materials in multi-clad constructions simply due to its durability and long-lasting performance. This construction method results in robust pots and pans that have high resistance to rust and corrosion.

Aluminum
Aluminum is commonly used as the core in nonstick pans, it’s known as one of the best materials that excel in heating and cooling quickly, which makes it a good heat conductor that can distribute swiftly and evenly.
This is ideal for people who are in a rush and want to cook and enjoy their meals in a short time. But, the main reason why I prefer cookware made from this material is that most of them if not “All” are Anodized which makes them completely safe to use and fire-resistant. In other words, they can withstand being on fire for a very long time with no problem. On top of that, Hard-anodized aluminum cookware usually tends to be less expensive. So, it’s a great fit for people who are on a budget.
Aluminum and Stainless steel are quite similar when it comes to the features they can provide. Both are great materials used together in manufacturing superb cookware. However, The only notable difference between the two that I can think of is "the weight", as I have mentioned above, aiming for high-quality stainless steel material meaning getting a multi-ply construction type. In other words, stainless steel cookware are heavy and could get heavier, depending on how many layers are added. Unlike Aluminum which is considered to be lightweight and can easily be carried and organized by anyone.
Porcelain
One of the most common questions I get asked: “ What is Porcelain? and what’s the difference between Porcelain and Ceramic?”
How many times have you heard the term “Porcelain” or “Porcelain enamel”? I bet you have seen these terms used a lot in cookware descriptions that you've come across, at least I did. I lost count of how many times I have heard those terms. Thereby, I would like to clarify one thing first as I was confused with this myself on my first days and ended up ruining and damaging my cookware as a result.
Porcelain is a type of Ceramic clay. When we speak about Ceramic material and its types (porcelain, stoneware, pyroceram, etc.), we basically refer to how high is the temperature the clay was fired at. Normally, porcelain clays are fired at a high temperature which results in becoming less and less porous.
As for the term “Porcelain enamel”, it means that the porcelain is fused with other materials such as Aluminum, Cast Iron, etc. The biggest advantage about this material is that it’s easy to clean and non-toxic which makes it eco-friendly and safe to use. However, keep in mind that since it performs great in ovens and baking, that is about all where you can use porcelain cookware or ceramic in general. And that is what I was referring to by damaging my cookware. Ceramic can neither be used on electrical nor on gas stoves. See "best pots and pans for gas stoves" if you are looking for the right cookware for your gas stove.
Knowing the type of cooking style we are comfortable with can help us tremendously in choosing the best cookware material that fits our needs. Some pots and pans can work better than others depending on the conditions you'll be using them on.
What set pieces are needed for a beginner?
The answer to this question depends entirely on 2 factors, How busy is your kitchen? and How many people do you usually cook for? If you just cook for yourself or for a small family then an 8-10 pcs set would be more than enough. I always recommend beginners to start with a small set to practice and learn various recipes first. After that, you can be picky and start having your own cookware collection. If you have a big family or you plan to start doing the cooking for a living then you may want to consider buying a 14 or 17-pcs set.
Knowing the number of pieces we need saves us from buying extra pans we won’t be using. Here are the main pieces you should be aiming for if you’re just starting:
- 8-inch and 10-inch Fry Pans
- Cooking Saucepan (2 Qt, 4Qt) with Lid
- Deep Saute Pan
Once you have the most basic set pieces, you may start adding more pieces depending on your needs. You can start with a 12-piece set to include everything you may need or a simple 8-piece or 9-piece set if you just want to get the ones you’ll be using regularly.
What type of stove or cooktop do you have?
Depending on the type of stove or cooktop you’re using, you would need cookware that is compatible with the surface type and the heat source available to you so you won’t have any trouble using it. Some cookware are not compatible with induction cooktops, while some of them have been enhanced in order to rectify this need within certain limits. See "Best Cookware For Induction Cooktops" for more information on this matter.
If you are using glass or flat cooktops then you need to consider getting cookware with a flat bottom to match the flat surface of your cooktop to benefit from an even quick heat distribution. See "Best cookware for glass top stoves" for more information.
